Durante boa parte do durante o século XX, fomos governados por um regime de torturadores, guiados por terror e financiados pelas grandes potências do norte. Essa elite conservadora nunca sofreu julgamento adequado e continua a exercer ampla influência política sobre a vida no lado sul do continente.

Militaries celebrating the coups that took place throughout Latin America are only one side of impunity for crimes committed by right-wing dictatorships in that region of the world. For much part of the twentieth century, we were ruled by a regime of torturers, driven by terror and funded by the major powers of the north. This conservative elite has never had proper trial and continues to exert broad influence on political life in the south side of the continent.
